A.J. "Keepin' It Real" Johnson serves as the CEO and Founder of Baton Rouge AIDS Society. All proceeds from his presentations supports the advancement of his organization and the continual services within the community.
In January, 2007, BRASS responded to the need to get more people tested for HIV by purchasing a mobile unit. Since then, over 400 people have been tested within their community. In an effort to increase the number of people tested and the availability of services within the community, BRASS started "Project P.L.A.N.T." (People Living with an AIDS diagnosis and Never Tested).

The Story of The Wise Man
One day, a teenager thought that he would trick the old man that sat under the town tree. He thought that he would capture a bird and place it in his hands. He would then take the bird and put it behind his back, as he held it in his hands. He would then approach the old wise man and ask him this question: “What do I have behind my back?” If he gets it right by saying a bird, he would then ask him part two of the question: “Is it dead or is it alive?” Now if the man said it was dead, he would let it fly away. But, if he said it was alive, the young lad was going to squash it.
Now this young lad did not like to do anything alone, so he went up to his friend Michael and told him what he was going to do. Michael bought in to the trick and accompanied him to the old many that sat under the town tree. Once they arrived, Michael pushed the young lad forward and said, “Do it!”
“Old man,” said the young lad. “What do I have behind my back?” The old man looked up to the sky and looked back at the young lad and said, “My child, you have a bird.” Michael said, “Go head, Go head.” As he smiled with anticipation of what was going to happen next. “Old man,” said the young lad. “Is it Dead, or Is it Alive?”
The old man looked up to the sky and looked back at the young lad and said, “I don’t know my child, it is in your hands!”
The two boys walked away in awe as they realized once again, the old man proved to them that they are responsible for their life and the decisions that they make. Even more, they have a sense of responsibility for others around them.
