Building Communities and Saving Lives

PROJECT P.L.A.N.T.

People Living with an AIDS diagnosis and NEVER TESTED!

Genesis 1:11

Then God said, “Let the land sprout with vegetation - every sort of seed-bearing plant,
and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit.
These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.”

In January, 2007, BRASS responded to the need to get more people tested for HIV by purchasing a mobile unit.  Since then, over 400 people have been tested within the community.  In an effort to increase the number of people tested and the availability of services within the community, BRASS launched "Project P.L.A.N.T." (People Living with an AIDS diagnosis and NEVER TESTED!)  Your involvement is key to the success of this project.   We are asking you to sow a seed at Baton Rouge AIDS Society, an organization that has been serving the community for 10 years.

Matthew 13:3-9

And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Support "Project P.L.A.N.T."

We are asking for your support to reach those who are unaware of their status.  It is true that everyone deserves proper health care.  However, sometimes we must bring the health care to the people.  BRASS 1 (our mobile testing unit) has limited services, but it is getting the job done.  By planting a seed with Baton Rouge AIDS Society, you will be helping us move forward in the following areas:

HIV Testing and Referral Services
HIV Testing Mobile Unit
HIV Testing Client Incentives
HIV Testing Community Development/Education
and
Gaps in Client Services After Testing

There are three ways that you may support "Project Plant".

PAY IT FORWARD LOUISIANA

The premise of the novel Pay It Forward is one that any person can implement in his or her own life, at any time.  It begins with doing a favor for another person  -- without any expectation of being paid back.

"Pay It Forward Louisiana" is a fundraising option at Baton Rouge AIDS Society where we will return to you a letter acknowledging receipt of your contribution, but we will not print your name/company or advertise your support in any fashion.  This protects the confidentiality of our donor and prevents public recognition for his/her good works.

By paying it forward, you are simply requesting that we bless others as you have blessed us.  Nothing else in return.  The agency will hold an annual meeting in January of every year to discuss the success of its programs and the special accomplishments from community contributions.
